Your Webex Personal Room is your own virtual conference space that you can use for meetings at any time.
Install the Webex app
The Webex Meetings Desktop application is recommended for the best meeting experience. The Webex Meetings application is the only supported Webex client at this time.
- Log in to Webex using your firstname.lastname@wmich.edu email address. You will be redirected to the WMU Login to complete authentication.
- Click Download on the left, and then download the Cisco Webex Meetings Desktop App. If you wish to integrate Webex with the Outlook desktop application, we recommend you also download the Cisco Webex Productivity Tools at this time as well.
- Once downloaded, launch the Cisco Webex Meetings Desktop App installer and proceed through the installation prompts. If you also downloaded the Cisco Webex Productivity Tools, you may install that software after the Webex Meetings Desktop app has been installed.
- The application does not require administrator privileges to install, but your WMU managed system might. Please contact your LAN manager if you need assistance with departmental software installation.
- Once installed, open the Cisco Webex Meetings application.
- Sign in using your WMU email address.
Meet Instantly in your Personal Room
Using the Webex Desktop Application (recommended)
- Open the Webex Desktop Application
- Click the Copy icon next to your personal meeting room URL (formatted as wmich.webex.com/meet/your.name)
- Share the URL with the intended recipients
- Click Start a Meeting.
- Wait for participants to join your room.
Using the Webex web application
- Log in to Webex using your firstname.lastname@wmich.edu email address. You will be redirected to the WMU Login to complete authentication.
- Once signed in, you will see your Personal Meeting Room address below your name. Click the icon next to it to copy the address and then share this link with the desired meeting participants.
- Click the down arrow next to Start a Meeting and select Use web app.
- Click Start a Meeting.
- Wait for participants to join your room.
Schedule a Meeting in your Personal Room
Note: Scheduling a meeting in your Personal Room is the recommended method for online instruction with recurring meeting times. This ensures that the meeting URL always remains the same throughout the sessions, which simplifies the process for your recipients.
- Log in to Webex using your firstname.lastname@wmich.edu email address. You will be redirected to the WMU Login to complete authentication.
- Once signed in, you will see your Personal Meeting Room address below your name. Click the icon next to it to copy the address.
- Create a new calendar invite and enter your Personal Meeting Room URL as the location for the event. Add desired recipients and a description to the event as needed.
- Send the invitation. At the time of the event, recipients simply need to click the URL included with the invitation to join your room.
