The campus printing system is available in most student labs on campus as well as wirelessly from your own devices. Printing is tracked using a token value system that is reset at the beginning of each semester.
Where Can I Print?
- Student computer labs. View a list of student computer labs on campus
- You can also wirelessly print from your own device and then visit a wireless print release station to pick up your print. View a list of wireless print release stations.
Print Quotas Per Semester
Tokens are allocated the Friday before a semester begins based on student enrollment status at that time. Late enrollments will be allocated tokens the day after census (add/drop deadline). See below for initial token allocation based on your student status:
- College of Engineering: 1,000 tokens
- College of Fine Arts: 1,000 tokens
- Graduate/Ph.D.: 750 tokens
- Undergraduate: 500 tokens
- CELCIS: 100 tokens
- Not enrolled: 50 tokens
Summer I and Summer II are combined and count as one semester
Print Values
- Black & white, any size: 1 token
- Color, any size: 3 tokens
Print values are based on the printer that is selected upon print, not the color scale of each individual document. For example, if a black & white document is sent to a color printer, you will be charged 3 tokens.
Wireless Printing
Wireless printing is available to all Western Michigan University students. You can print wirelessly to various locations throughout campus using your own personal computer, tablet or smartphone.
Checking Quota and Print History
Printing quota and history may be checked by clicking the My Lab Printing Account link in the My Self-Service channel in GoWMU. It may also be checked in a computer lab by opening the lab printing balance window.
Missing Tokens
Students who enroll after tokens are allocated will not receive their token quota until the day after the add/drop deadline. If you are still experiencing an allocation issue, you can request assistance below:
Requesting Refunds For Misprints
Misprint refund requests will be sent to the manager of the lab in which the print took place.
Negative Token Balance & Billing
Student accounts are billed at the end of each semester if they printed over their available token quota. The cost of one (1) token is $0.03, therefore if a student has a token balance of -600 tokens, their student account will be billed $18.00 at the end of the semester.
