Any department, faculty, or staff member in the University who needs to purchase an information technology product that meets the conditions described in the Technology Compliance Review Process
Why do I need a review?
The purpose of a review is to ensure compliance and compatibility with WMU information systems, infrastructure, accessibility, and data security policies as well as other rules and guidelines for successful implementation.
Do I need a review of the product I want to purchase will be hosted by an outside firm?
Yes, there is a good possibility that you will still require network resources to make your product work. And, there may be security issues and IT resources may be necessary. You will also need to complete the software as a service security assessment questionnaire.
How will I know my request and documentation have been received?
The technology compliance review request form is in Service Hub. You will receive an automated email acknowledging your request which will include a work order number. An information technology representative will contact you within two business days after the request is submitted.
How long does a review take?
That depends upon the complexity of the product and the resources it may require. In most cases, the review will take one to two weeks once all required documentation has been submitted.
How will I know the outcome of my review?
You will receive an email with either an approval, conditional approval, or other recommendations and mandatory next steps. It may also include applicable costs and recommended support agreements.
What if the product I want is not recommended?
You will receive an email that will include concerns with the proposed product and possible alternative solution(s).
