How to Access Library Course Reserves
- Log on to goWMU, and hit Insert+F5 to select the form field.
- Hit Down Arrow once and enter to go to Library Button.
- Hit Enter again to follow the link. You will be redirected to the Library page.
- Once on the library page, you will want to find the link to access course reserves. To do so, hit Insert +F7 and Down Arrow until you hear JAWS read “Access Course Reserves.” Hit Enter.
- This will bring you to a new page to log in to the Library Course Reserves, also known as Ares. You will use the same Bronco ID username and password as you use for goWMU. Hit Tab once to take you into the edit dialogue box and type your username. Hit Tab again. This will take you into the password edit dialogue box and you can type your password. Hit Tab once more to the sign-in button and select it by hitting enter.
- You are now logged in to your Library Course Reserves, but no courses are added yet. To add one, hit Insert+F7 to pull up a links list and down arrow until you hear “search courses,” then select the link by hitting enter. You will now have a series of combo boxes in the main pane that allow you to search by either the department, the instructor, or the course.
- Tab through until you hear Jaws read “Department combo box.” You are now in the area of the screen that allows you to search for courses. If you do not want to select a department, you can tab forward to select by the instructor, or Tab again for course number/code/name. If you select to search by course, you will need to select what information you would like to search for from the drop-down box, then tab over twice into the editable field and type what you are searching for.
- The search results will appear in a single table format. To navigate through, hit Ctrl+Insert+T, then Enter, then Tab once to navigate into the first part of the table.
- You will hear options to “view course”, select Tab, and “add course” which are followed by a descriptive number and title. Do not be alarmed if this number does not match your course number. It is the CRN and students are typically not familiar with it. To explore whether this is the appropriate course, you can instead navigate using the right arrow to confirm the course number, then the section number then the name of the class, and then the name of the instructor.
- Once you have determined you are in the correct class, arrow back to the left until you hear jaws read “add course” then hit Enter.
- The link will open a new page with two tables. One for “hot list” and one for “my courses.” Ctrl+Insert+T to navigate to a list of the two tables, and down arrow into “my courses” and select that table by hitting enter.
- If the course was successfully added, you should be able to Tab into the first cell of the table, “view course” and arrow right to confirm the appropriate course was selected by reviewing the same information we did earlier (course number, section number, course name, instructor.)
- To access the hotlist table, you can select Ctrl+Insert+T and arrow up or down until you hear “hot list.” Hit enter to explore this table. Your course reserves will be posted here.
